50 Chic Short Bob Haircuts and Hairstyles for Women
Ear Length French Bob
@nichole_sams
A little French bob like this would suit chic and classy girls who would never leave the house without a sexy eyeliner and lip work. Yet it only takes less hair to make this haircut work, the volume the texture offers is really impressive.
Jaw Length Short Bob for Fine Hair
@killerhairinc
Q&A with style creator, Remy Awan
Co-Owner @ Red Feather Salon in McLean, VA
How would you describe this look?
This jaw length bob is based on a strong geometric and disciplined shape, but with layers providing texture and movement.
My guest is obviously beautiful, but the strength in the perimeter line accentuates her jawline, while the layers sit at the cheekbone level to create interest and to keep the shape from looking too solid and heavy.
Any advice for someone considering it?
I used some R&Co Chiffon light mousse before drying to add strength. Also, some R&Co Control paste to bring out the layers and give the finished look.
Jagged Bob for Round Faces
@kf_hairdesign
This bob for short hair features soft short layers that best compliment a round face. The mid part also helps balance the face shape by creating the illusion of an elongated face.
Gorgeous Bob for Thick Hair
@headrushdesigns
Chop your hair into a tousled bob for a lightweight result with less bulk yet more texture. This hairstyle looks amazing on any everyday casual or even business events.
Short Black Bob With Bangs
@ponysalon
In this flawless jet black, short bob with bangs, the ends are waved inward for a face-frame effect. That cute choppy fringe enhances the look even more by adding texture and interest.
Q&A with style creator, Corinna Hernandez
Stylist @ Pony Salon in San Francisco, CA
How would you describe this look?
This is a razor-cut mid-neck length bob with graduation. This girl has bangs that suit her face – shorter and more textured. This cut was not blow dried with a brush but with a diffuser and surf spray to encourage natural movement and texture. This color is her natural color – almost black!
Any advice for someone considering it?
This is a great look for someone who likes wearing shorter hair with little to loose waves and wants to just let it air dry with some surf spray.
Fun Choppy Bob with a Deep Side Part
@sunshinehairdesigns_renee
Q&A with style creator, Renee W Owens
Owner/Stylist/Redken Color Specialist @ Sunshine Hair Designs in Tarboro, NC
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
This choppy short bob cut that’s textured and angled is one of my favorite styles. It’s so versatile and can go from straight and sleek to tousled and textured like it’s shown in the picture. This is such a fun, flirty bob with a deep side part that is easy to duplicate at home.
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
For this look, I applied Kenra Body Boosting Spray Foam and Kenra Blowdry Spray for volume and shine, then curled with a 1-inch iron, leaving the ends straight for a more textured look.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
This short choppy bob cut and style works well for most face shapes and can be styled so easily at home, making it a good choice for almost everyone.
Sassy A-Line Bob
@sierraenglishhair
Q&A with style creator, Sierra English
Hairstylist @ Sierra English Hair in Venice, CA
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
This look is sassy, yet more playful than your traditional short A-line bob. The perimeter is textured instead of blunt, and the interior is sliced through in order to remove excess weight. My favorite aspect of this look is the fact that it is really low maintenance, yet has a ton of style.
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
To maintain this look, I recommend applying Kevin Murphy Body Mass spray all over wet hair. This style can be air dried or rough dried with a blow dryer. Finishing touches can be made with a large barrel curling iron, although this step is not necessary. To finish, apply Kevin Murphy Doo Over for a fresh and undone look that will hold throughout the day.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
I would recommend this cut for the low maintenance client who also appreciates style and a quality grow out. This cut is great for naturally wavy hair and small and/or oval face shapes.
Asymmetrical Bob
@kaitlynmch
Q&A with style creator, Kaitlyn McHarg
Hairstylist @ Eliane Hair & Spa in Vancouver, BC
How would you describe this look?
This short asymmetrical bob is an updated version of one of the most classic short bobs of all time.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This bob haircut can be tailored in so many ways to suit different hairs. Depending on the face width, you can either draw attention or defer attention depending on the length you go with. You can also play around with layers and texture to either make the hair fuller and blunter or take out the weight and add some layers or face framing.
A Very Short Layered Bob
@audistyles
Q&A with style creator, Audrey Ragan
Hairstylist @ Lunatic Fringe Salon in Franklin, TN
How would you describe this look?
This very short, layered bob haircut is a classic shape modernized by a strong, chippy fringe. The perimeter mimics the jawline, which helps maintain balance and visual appeal.
Any advice for someone considering it?
The strong fringe works well for oval, diamond and oblong face shapes or to minimize a prominent forehead. It’s ideal for straight to wavy hair that’s fine, medium or coarse.
To style, apply a smoothing serum (like Kerastase Oleo-Relax or Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum) and a cream gel (like Bumble and Bumble Styling Creme or Kerastase Forme Fatale). Finish with a touch of styling paste or clay (like Bumble and Bumble Thickening Creme Contour or SumoClay) for soft definition and texture in the perimeter and fringe.
Edgy, Face Framing Bangs
@chellelynn
Q&A with style creator, Chelle Johnson
Apprentice @ Level Workshop in Dallas, TX
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
This look is 50% classic, 50% edgy. I love that the micro bangs can be sweet or badass, depending on how you style them. Playing with shorter bangs is a fun, low commitment way to change up your look because if you get tired of them, they grow out in a couple weeks anyway!
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
I used R+Co’s Mannequin for separation and grit. I love the flyaway look to the layers. It’s a pliable product, so the look changes as she touches her hair throughout the day.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
This shorter bob is great for someone who likes to change up her look and doesn’t mind styling her hair daily.
Permed Bob
@hannahlibbywillis
This magnificent short perm job proves that everything is possible, even creating gorgeous naturally-looking curls like these from straight hair. Be sure to visit your curl stylist for a retouch every few months to keep your curls lively and beautiful.

Unquestionably one of the looks everyone loves, the wispy bob haircut for short hair is a lighter cut that’s good for ladies with thick hair who don’t want too much bulk. You can opt for long wispy bangs as well if you wanna put attention to your eyes and pretty face.
Pixie Bob
@baileylanehair
This is a noteworthy straight, short pixie bob that’s textured with subtle lowlights for a modern shag look. Plus the light, short choppy layers at the ends only make the whole haircut exceptional.
Short Cappuccino Bob
@emerson_ferrazoficial
This sweet and cute cappuccino bob would flatter warm skin tones and oblong and oval faces best. The cut and color are both really low maintenance with the styling making this look perfect for busy women who wanna look professional yet glamorous.

Give not just your hair but your life a pop of color when you try this fantastic ocean bob! Turquoise is a high maintenance yet fun and super worth-it color to try that looks greatest on fair skin.
Bob for a Chubby Face
@franzimakepretty
Short bob cuts require a short hair expert to determine the right cut and length for rounder faces. Those who want their faces looking slim and fresh would definitely love this look! Notice how it starts in a center part, straightened down just beside the jawline for an elongating effect, and then finished with waved ends for a touch of elegance.
Short Straight Bob
@vdahair
Q&A with style creator, Veronica Abram
Independent Hairstylist @ Suite 78 – Salon Republic in Los Angeles, CA
How would you describe this look?
This short bob hair is classic, chic, and cool and never goes out of style. I think a straight bob suits many face shape, and the only thing you have to consider is what length will go with your face shape. The goal here is to create the appearance of having an oval shape.
Any advice for someone considering it?
When it comes to hair texture the most ideal candidate is a client with straight hair and medium density since they don’t have to spend a lot of time trying to style their hair.
If you want the classic bob, this haircut is done with 0-degree elevation to create the shape. You can either opt for an A-line bob or square bob.
Once my foundation is cut, I like to dry the hair. I generally like to cocktail two products – Kadus frizz down lotion and velvet oil by the same brand. Apply on damp hair and blow-dry with a paddle brush hugging the shape of the head to smooth the cuticle of the hair. Then I like to smooth the hair on the top with a round brush if the hair is not smooth enough. Once hair is dry I like to refine my haircut. I either give some texture on the ends or some internal layering to create some movement.
Perfect Shaggy Bob for Thin Hair
@micapopovich
Shaggy is the best and easiest way to go to make your thin fine hair appear thicker and full of volume. Work with layers that are wavy towards the end for a charming outcome.
Q&A with style creator, Mica Popovich
Senior Stylist @ Edo Salon in San Francisco, CA
How would you describe this look?
I like to think of this cut as a shaggy bob. It’s cut with a straight razor with lots of weight removed. A soft, natural, and modern version of a classic cut.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This is a great short shaggy bob cut for anyone looking for a new style. I think bobs work on everybody and the loose, playful layers add a flirty, casual feel that can work on most face shapes.
I used a salt spray to give it texture and a creamy paste to detail all the little bits and pieces.
This was also styled using just my hands and a blow dryer. It’s very easy and fast to style.
Blonde Undercut Bob
@catnyehair
Q&A with style creator, Catherine Nye
Hairstylist @ Scripps Hair and Skin Gallery in San Diego, CA
How would you describe this look?
This is an undercut bob with foil highlights. I love the peekaboo effect of the undercut at the sides. The brightness of the highlights accentuates the buzzed hair underneath. It’s a bit edgy but also cute and versatile.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This is a perfect style for a client with “too much hair.” The undercut bob removes the bulky look of thick hair. It’s great for the summer heat because it keeps hair off the neck.
As with any shorter bobs, it requires a bit of styling if the client has textured hair.
As for the color, foil highlights are great when you want a strong pop of blonde to frame the face. The heat from the foils allows for a brighter blonde using a gentler lightener.
Naturally Curly Bob
@larnkieninger
Q&A with style creator, Lauren Kieninger
Co-owner & Stylist @ Barbara & Barbara in Chicago, IL
How would you describe this look?
This is a very layered, short angled bob. It is shorter in the back and slightly longer in the front, but also has a lot of smaller shorter layers to break up the heaviness that can form on the base of the cut. This helps to avoid the ‘triangle’ shape. This client has a lot of hair. We did an undercut to take out some of the extra bulk which helps maintain the shape for long, and because it’s fun!
Any advice for someone considering it?
I feel that this curly bob style is actually relatively low maintenance. Because of the layers and angle, it can hold its shape for 2-3 months.
Angled short bob hairstyles look great on most face-shapes, so it’s more about the smaller tweaks of the cut that gives it a specially tailored look. Some examples are the undercut or the bangs.
To keep up the shape daily, she uses DevaCurl Volumizing Foam followed with either a curl gel or cream depending on the season and what her hair needs. During the warm months, she uses DevaCurl Ultra-Gel and during the cold months, she uses DevaCurl Supercream. She usually lets it air-dry and sometimes follows up with her diffuser on low for about 5 mins to give it some extra volume.
Short Feathered Bob Crop
@arieledenshairstylist
Q&A with style creator, Ariel Edens
Hairstylist @ Ariel Edens Hair Studio in Pittsburgh, PA
How would you describe this look?
This feathered bob is a short stacked bob that’s angled. What you may or may not be able to tell is the front has no bangs or face-framing layers. It’s all one length around her face.
My favorite thing about this short crop is how versatile it is. It can truly be altered to fit your face shape, lifestyle, or personal preference.
Any advice for someone considering it?
If you have any texture then it’s going to take a product and at least 20 minutes of blow drying and round-brushing to get it to lay this smooth.
This short hair cut also looks great curly so with the right product, a girl with curly hair could let her hair air dry and it would be really cute.
Textured & Layered Graduated Bob
@katiebuttz
Q&A with style creator, Kaitlin Butler
Educator @ Bellus Academy in Poway / Stylist @ theFactory in San Diego, CA
How would you describe this look?
It’s a short graduated bob with short layers and bangs. For the photo, I brushed the layers forward to fall over the bangs and gave it a messy look. The way my model Savannah wears her short locks is completely different from the way I styled it. She curls her hair, sometimes wears a side part, sometimes just pushes everything back away from her face. It works in any way she wants to style it.
Any advice for someone considering it?
Almost anyone can wear this short bob cut! The products you use and styling all depend on your hair texture and type. This cut looks amazing on curly and wavy hair types too.
Stacked Swing Bob
@foilingbeautiful
Q&A with style creator, Alisha McAlister
Hair Stylist / Colorist @ The Cuttaway Styling Salon in Joplin, MO
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
This is a classy, stacked swing bob. I like this style on her because it looks gorgeous smoothed out, with soft curls, or with her natural curls. This cut is versatile and gives my client a classy yet sassy style.
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
I use Kenra Blow Dry Spray to prep the hair because it adds shine, serves as a heat protectant, smells amazing (like the beach), and works perfectly as a humidity blocker. I also use Monat Restore Leave-In Conditioner, Monat Restyle Instant Sculpting Taffy, and Monat Refinish Control Hairspray. The Taffy is what I used to smooth flyaways and give her more texture/piecey curls.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
I recommend this type of style for any client that has thick hair and someone that may not like to shampoo often This look gives them the option to wear it with natural curls, smooth it and volumize the next day, then do soft beachy curls (as in the picture) with their flat iron.
I wouldn’t recommend this haircut to those with fine or thin hair because they lack the thickness to make this stacked look. For fine/thin hair, I’d recommend a long bob (Lob) with long layers.
Short to Medium Bob
@kayladaninger_hair
Q&A with style creator, Kayla Daninger
Designer @ Cole’s Salon in Apple Valley, MN
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
I would describe this look as chic, sophisticated and fun. People want to add texture to their hair because it adds interest to the style, but they also want to feel like they still have a lot of hair. I love that this style creates a fuller look on any type of hair while still keeping flowing layers and movement!
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
For this hairstyle, I love using Bumble and Bumble Thickening spray and All Style cream before blow drying to add volume. When the hair is dry, I finish with Oribe Dry Texture spray to give the hair a tousled, textured, lived-in look.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
This style is great for those who have fine hair (but a lot of it) and have a hard time getting volume. This style can be a wash and wear look if you have very curly hair because it will give the curls a lot more bounce. Straight hair is going to require a little bit of effort! I believe any face shape and any age can pull off this look. Rounder faces should have the front come below their chin, while heart shaped and square faces should have the front right at the chin. The ideal clients for this haircut are those who have a little time in the morning to style their hair. It is a great look for those in the professional world that want a style they can have fun with!
Super Short Inverted Bob
@londonhuff
Keep your nape in tip-top shape with a super short inverted bob. Let your hair’s fluidity move to create a flawless curtain even in a short cut.
Vintage Bob with Bangs
@pioneerbarberco
Q&A with style creator, Candyce DeMarc
Owner / Barber @ Pioneer Barber Company in Seattle, WA
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
When I look at her haircut it makes me think of a mix of a vintage bob such as the likes of Louis Brooks with its defined lines, retro-inspired bangs and blunt cut with the sophistication and elegance of a young Isabella Rossellini. The slightly textured ends give it a slightly modern feel while the angle of the cut being shorter in the front and curved in the back give it that fun flapper vibe.
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
The type of products I recommend for this style would be mousse and texture spray to keep it from getting to soft and flat, lots of hairspray to hold the style in place and a pinch of silkening serum on the ends. I also love to put hair powder on everything!
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
I really like this short hair style for vintage girls, women and girls of any age especially beautiful on someone with a rounder face, softer features and/or a long neck to really capture the vintage feel of this style. It can be worn with minimal to no makeup and hairstyling for a french feel or styled and paired with makeup, bold lips and a barrette or headband for a night out.
Graduated Angled Bob
@tiffanyshuck
Q&A with style creator, Tiffany Shuck
Hairstylist @ VAIN in Seattle, WA
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
This is a graduated angled bob. The back is cut to the hairline and the front reaches almost mid-neck when the hair is straight or wet. I love the clean precise line that the back creates and the texture that is shown as the hair curls.
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
If you have fine hair, I recommend using Deva Curl B’Leave-In and Ultra Defining Gel. If your hair is thicker, I would recommend using R+Co Twister and Aircraft.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
Any hair type can have this short bob cut. You just have to take into consideration that if your hair is fine and straight, then you won’t see the shape as well as someone with curly hair. This haircut can be very slimming and works well with almost every face shape, especially someone with a more rounded face.
Modern Swing Bob with Bangs
@alexisartistry
Q&A with style creator, Alexis Schlegel
Hairstylist @ Willow Salon and Spa in Tacoma, WA
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
I would describe this look as being very roaring 1920s-inspired bob, but with a modern flair. It’s very artsy and fun. My favorite thing about it is the easy styling and upkeep, and the edginess of the disconnected framing in the front.
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
To create this short hairstyle, I recommend a small round brush to give shape to the bevel of the bob and the bangs, as well as some Kevin Murphy Anti Gravity spray for volume. For shine, I used the L’Oréal Shower Shine finishing spray. If you want a more textured look, you can use Kevin Murphy Freehold Cream.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
I would recommend shorter bobs with bangs to anyone who has thicker hair and loves to wear their hair down, as well as someone who enjoys their face being more framed.
Cute Round Bob for Women Over 60
@aimeeelizabeth23
Q&A with style creator, Aimee Frett
Hairstylist @ Salon Ambre in Temecula, CA
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
I love how this short bob cut works so well for just about anyone! It looks great hugging right around that jawline, or even grazing the shoulders. There’s not a ton of layering to deal, with so styling is super simple with a quick blow dry and maybe a touch up with a flat iron. It has the perfect amount of texture through the ends to keep it soft and have movement.
This style even looks great paired with a fringe. It has that perfectly polished look for any classic woman, plus the versatility for the more adventurous! By simply adding a texture spray like Eufora Full Effect, you can give it more body and texture. Or, take a curling wand and put in a beach wave and finish with Eufora Style Details Dry Spray Wax.
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
On towel dried hair, I used a cocktail of Eufora Sculpture Styling Glaze and Illuminate Shine Mist for control and light hold. I then dried the hair with a round brush and used Eufora Pure Polish to leave a sleek finish.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
This cut is great for anyone who likes short to medium length hair. It can work with any face shape just by altering length, angle and fringe. It can take away bulk for those with thick and unruly locks and add the appearance of thickness for those with fine and limp strands.
Trendy Messy Bob
@be_.linda
Q&A with style creator, Linda Marginean
Hairstylist @ Catwalk by Ramona Mindru in Cluj-Napoca, Romania
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
This short style is very popular among women of every age and is very trendy. The reason hairdressers and clients both love this haircut is because of its various suitability and practicality.
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
I recommend a volumizing mousse for a soft fixation and a leave-in oil.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
I recommend it to almost everyone. The natural, short messy haircut which characterizes the present short bob hairstyles trend makes it easy to wear and maintain. This cut can also be adapted to any face type by altering the length and cutting technique. 80% of its charm stays in the styling though!
Sharp and Blunt Bob With Bangs
@hair.loved.by_kiaya
Q&A with style creator, Kiaya Melnyk
Freelance Senior Hairdresser @ Beyounique Hair in Lithgow, NSW
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
The sharp and blunt effect of this bob makes a person look twice. My favorite thing about this short bob style is that when you have a blunt bob, you feel on top of the world! It can swing and flow as you walk, really showing your confidence.
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
On wet hair, I used a leave-in conditioner and heat protectant spray. After drying, I used hairspray and a spray wax. Evo is the brand I use for all of my styling. I love it because each product does what it’s meant to do.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
I recommend this look for clients with fine hair to make it look a lot thicker. This cut can also look amazing with thick hair as it can be softened to style well and work with the cut.
Natural Graduated Cut
@tiffanysarena
Q&A with style creator, Tiffany Perils
Hairstylist @ Rocco Altobelli in Roseville, MN
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
This look is a natural graduated bob with a neutral push on the sides. The short strands are versatile for styling. My favorite thing about it is you can round brush, curl, wave, or straighten the look.
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
When the hair is wet, I apply a medium hold spray gel. I love Rocco Altobellis spray gel because it has a heat protectant in it called rhatany root. It also adds body, volume and shine and it is fast drying. Round brush the hair and style with any heat tool desired. Finish with Redken’s Wind Blown 5 dry finishing spray. This creates a matte finish with an undone, dry textured look.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
This look is great for someone looking for a fun, spunky, youthful and versatile haircut. All hair types can rock this look.
Modern Bob With Fringe
@thetesshair
Q&A with style creator, Tess de la Riva
Hairstylist @ Hue Salon in Houston, TX
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
This look is so modern. It is easy and effortless, making it perfect for the girl who doesn’t want to fuss too much and still look “done”. The bangs make all the difference! They give the haircut an edge that isn’t a huge commitment.
It may not look like it, but there was a ton of texturizing involved in creating this haircut. Whether it’s messy or smoothed out, it still looks great. Who would’ve thought a simple, textured, one-length bob with bangs could be so chic?
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
If your hair is naturally straight or doesn’t have too much texture, I recommend Kerastase Fluidissime Thermal Anti Frizz Protection Spray or Aveda’s Smooth Infusion Style Prep Smoother. Both products are light, but powerful.
If you have thick hair that needs hold and style, I recommend Aveda’s Smooth Infusion Nourishing Styling Creme or the Creme de la Creme blow dry cream by Kerastase.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
The beauty of a short bob with bangs is that you can personalize it to anyone. As with any short haircut, there’s a certain level of commitment. I have my guests stop by the salon regularly for free bang trims. You’d be surprised the difference it makes.
Short to Long Sophistication
@hairbyperrilujan
Q&A with style creator, Perri Lujan
Hairstylist @ Victor Paul Salon in Costa Mesa, CA
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
I love this short bob haircut because it is so versatile. It’s sexy, yet playful! It can have a sophisticated look for work by blow drying it straight, or you can throw some curls in it and piece it out for some texture. It’s a quick and low maintenance.
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
Before I blow dry a look like this, I like to apply Oribe Imperial Blowout from roots to ends and Oribe Maximista throughout. After blow drying, I flat iron and finish with Brazilian Blowout Dry Oil. If curling, I use a 1 1/4-inch curling iron and finish with Oribe Aprés Beach.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
I would recommend this for a client who are looking for quick and easy short styles. It is perfect for someone who leads a busy and active lifestyle. Hair that is fine to medium thickness would work best with this style.
Razor Cut with Highlights
@styled.bybrooke
Q&A with style creator, Brooke Schwartz
Hairstylist @ Mad One Jacks Salon in Hoboken, NJ
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
I would describe this look as a short, edgy and effortless razor cut bob! It is one of my favorite short bob styles to create. What I love about this cut most of all is how easy the client can maintain this look. This haircut grows out perfectly and can be easily styled within minutes!
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
Products play an important role with this style! I love to use Paul Mitchell’s HydroCreamWhip before my blow dry to ensure that the hair is smooth but still has touchable volume. Another option I recommend is a texture cream by Paul Mitchell called Reworks.
I use my fingers or paddle brush to dry the hair. Once the hair is dry, a sea salt spray can be added for an extra beach-like finish. This can be used straight or after running a curling iron through the hair. Finish off with a shine spray or light finishing spray and you’re set!
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
This style is perfect for the client who does little or no styling at all. It’s great on the go style and is a tad edgier than the classic Vidal Sassoon bob. Face shape plays an important role when deciding the length, especially in front. A more narrow face shape is ideal, but for someone more round, leave more length so it doesn’t cup the client’s chin and can elongate the face.
This look is great for a more active client because it will look done but not too polished. This will fit a client who doesn’t necessarily have a corporate job.
One Length Short Blonde Bob
@meek.hd
Q&A with style creator, Janelle Parsons
Creative Director and Salon Owner @ Meek HD pty ltd in Coolum Beach, Queensland, Australia 4573
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
This strong, baseline-style cut is a solid short blonde bob that creates an intensity of the blonde color work. My favorite thing about this look is the brightness of the clean blonde and the solid baseline
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
As I am a Redken ambassador salon, I use all Redken styling and color professional ranges to maintain this look. I recommend Redken Extreme shampoo and conditioner, as well as Blonde Idol violet treatment. For styling, I recommend Aerate 08 and Fashion Work 12 hairspray.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
The perfect client for this look has a heart, diamond or round face shape. It is best suited for fine to medium hair types. The versatility of this style and cut allows the look to suit every lifestyle from day to night, how ver the maintenance of the blonde on short hair is a commitment and would need toners and re-coloring every four to six weeks.

This is a layered textured bob. My favorite thing about it is the nice, swingy, natural movement it gets.

Sassy Wavy Bob
@rachel_anythinghair
Q&A with style creator, Rachel Dykstra
Hairstylist @ Launch Salon in Grand Rapids, MI
How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
The best way I can think of to describe this sassy, short wavy bob! My favorite thing about this haircut is that it frames her face in all the right places. Sometimes taking that leap of faith and cutting your hair into a bob can be the best choice you’ve ever made!
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
I am a John Paul Mitchell Systems girl through and through, so the products that I recommend will always be in that product line!
While the hair is still wet I would use Rare Oil Style Perfecting Serum. It conditions, adds shine, and helps maintain the style all day.
As a heat protectant on dry hair, I would use Hot off the Press. As a hairspray, I would use Marula Rare Oil Perfecting Hairspray because it is humidity resistant and super workable. For added texture, I would use Paul Mitchell Neon Sugar Spray.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
What I love MOST about this wavy bob cut is that it is flattering on many of my clients! When someone has long thick hair, this haircut allows me to remove so much weight while also creating body and movement.
When someone has very thin hair, cutting their hair to this length can create the illusion of thick hair. It also adds layers and volume a thin-haired client never thought they could have or achieve themselves!
This cut is great for those of you who feel like you are stuck in a rut and want to “do” your hair more! Think less everyday ponytail and bit more everyday curl and sass. Shorter hair = less time spent curling!

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
I would describe this cut as mod and contemporary. My favorite thing about this cut is the clean lines. I always like my bobs to have a good foundation, and I like to know that my guest’s hair will lay perfectly when they wear it straight.
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
The products I used for this look where from the brand SEVEN Haircare. I used a product called Seal which is an equalizer to help equalize the ph and keep the moisture content high. I also used the Diamond styling oil to add shine and help with the sleek look. The last product I recommend would be a heat defense to help make sure your hair is protected against any heat tools.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
I recommend short bob haircuts like this for someone with medium and fine textured hair. This look also looks great on someone who has straight hair. It’s best for someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot of time on their day to day hairstyling.
The main thing you have to do with this cut is either go throughout and straighten it or even put a little wave in it to give it more of a messy look, but nothing that will really take anyone more than 10 minutes to do every day.
Sleek Blunt Bob
@romeufelipe
Timeless short bobs have many variations and can work on every hair type out there which is my favorite part of this cut.
This haircut is blunt, cropped quite short, is very clean with a sleek look, and has a natural, light honey, dimensional color.
To style, use a round brushed the hair to add a little bit of body but kept in mind to keep it relatively straight while doing so. This cut can be worn with any texture. It also looks great waved with volume or scrunched with natural curls.
The short, blunt perimeter widens the lower half of the face, so if you’re concerned in that department, this look might not be the most flattering.

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
This is a texturized, short bob cut with a lower maintenance highlight.
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
To maintain my client’s hair, I use Boosta Spray and Elevate Mousse by Unite. We also prepped with 7 Seconds by Unite. The 7 Seconds conditions the hair and maintains the shine in her blonde. She has a finer texture, so Elevate Mousse gives her hair the extra grit little to be able to hold a curl and Boosta is used for added volume.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
This hairstyle can be customized for anyone. Changing up the products would make this style work for women with thick hair or more fine hair.
Sassy Angled Blonde Bob
@treulet929
A sassy angled blonde bob with its subtle layers to boost the volume and glow of your tresses! Short angled bobs, which are usually neck-length, look more dynamic than other cuts. Highlights and lowlights can even create a dimension for a total sun-kissed effect. If you’re a gal who wants minimal styling only, short bob haircuts like this one are your thing!

How would you describe this look?
I always enjoy getting to create dimensional looks like this one. Highlights are so beautiful especially when adding in the perfect lowlight to make the blonde pop that much more.
For this client’s hair, I chose Redken shades EQ gloss for the perfect golden yet still cool blonde tone. Plus, it adds so much extra shine to the hair (who doesn’t love extra shine)!
I have always loved this cut for how versatile it can be. Whether you are looking for something stylish, professional, or even fun and sassy, this graduated bob is perfect for so many looks.
Any advice for someone considering it?
This hairstyle is perfect for someone who has fine/medium hair. Adding layers to this bob will give the illusion of it being thicker. For this style, I would say products are key! A product that I would recommend to use for this style is Redken’s Full Frame. I love this mousse because it gives the hair extra volume. If you are considering this look, I say go for it! It’s definitely a fun look!

How would you describe this look and what is your favorite thing about it?
With this bob haircut on short hair, I balayaged her ends and kept her base natural so she doesn’t have to worry about roots! My favorite thing about this look is that it is so low maintenance.
What products do you recommend to maintain and recreate this look?
Bedroom.Hair by Kevin Murphy is a product I’m obsessed with right now. It’s a textured hairspray so it helps give lift and grit to the hair to hold the beachy loose waves in place! I topped this look off with Kevin Murphy Shine Spray.
What type of client would you recommend this look for?
This look is perfect for someone who wants something with easy upkeep! Most balayage clients can go 6-12 months before they need a touch up.
